MAKE THIS EASY AND DELICIOUS PASTA RIGHT AT HOME
It’s no secret that I’m Italian mixed in with a bunch of other stuff, but on my Dad’s side of the family, all Italians! My family hails from Calabria, Italy and to say that we LOVE Italian food would be an understatement.
We adore the stuff and I’m always looking for ways to make healthier versions of the classics. What you may not know though is that Fried Ravioli isn’t technically an Italian recipe. Yes, Giada made it on her show, but it actually originated in St. Louis Missouri. I betcha didn’t know that did you?
Fried Ravioli sounds complicated to make but it’s actually super easy to make. I kept this easy by buying the basics necessities for the recipe, including the four cheese ravioli pre-made.
You certainly could make your own, but that’s another recipe for another time. And I will post that one, I promise! Because let’s face it, we all want to know how to make our own pasta.
ALL YOU NEED ARE A FEW INGREDIENTS TO BRING ITALY HOME
This recipe is a perfect recipe to make when you are stuck at home and it’s great for kiddos to make too!
All you need is store-bought ravioli’s (I suggest using cheese ones as they fry up better than the meat version.)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
A frying pan
Organic Bread Crumbs
Parmesan Cheese and fresh Marinara Sauce (for dipping, ranch is good too.)
The first thing you want to do is bread your ravioli’s. Watch the recipe video I’ve made where I show you how to do it. You take each ravioli and dip it in buttermilk and make sure you really give them a good coating. Next, you take your ravioli and bread it, dip that ravioli in the breadcrumb mixture a few times to coat the entire thing. Do this until all of the pasta is covered.
For your oil, you are going to use 2 quarts. Yes! It’s a lot of oil, but you want to make sure the oil is 2-inches deep. Heat the oil to 350-degrees, and make sure you use a thermometer because you need the oil to be at just the right temperature for everything to fry up correctly.

Take a slotted spoon and place 5 breaded ravioli’s in the spoon and gently place them in the oil. Fry on each side for a minute or so until they begin to puff up. Once they puff up, they are ready to be taken out. Place the fried ravioli’s on a paper-towel-lined plate and let the oil drain off.
Once all of your ravioli is fried up, place them on a plate with a side of fresh marinara sauce and add freshly grated parmesan to the tops of the ravioli.
You are ready to dig in and eat these delicious gems! They are creamy and crunchy and make a wonderful appetizer.
