DAYS OFF TAKE ON A WHOLE NEW MEANING
Sometimes I write at night after Shane and the pups have gone to bed and I sit in my office with Antionette on my desk while I type my thoughts away on my keyboard. I turn the light down, light a candle and sit with my thoughts and purge them away into this blog.
It’s easier to write than say words out loud sometimes. I do some of my best writing at night and I believe that’s because there are no distractions. No phones going off, no need to scroll IG, not emails to answer, no one to get back to, no commitments. Just me, these words, and a very fluffy cat.
ADD A SCOOP OF BEEF GELATIN TO YOUR LASAGNA SAUCE, SERIOUSLY IT’S GOOD!
Add a scoop of Vital Protein’s Beef Gelatin and you’ll never back to your old lasagna sauce again! It makes all the difference in the world and helps make the lasagna sauce taste thick, creamy, and super-rich and delicious!
REST, RECHARGE, AND RELAX
Today was Easter and it was nice and quiet. I like quiet days. Days to clean, purge, spend ample time with the dogs, and just be still for once, I believe everyone needs a week or weekend day like this one.
Time off is essential to re-group and recharge. Think of your mind and body like a phone. The phone cannot run on 5% forever.
Eventually, that battery is going to die and is going to need to be plugged into recharge. Although I’m sure the folks at Apple are already coming up with ways for phones to charge themselves, you know what I mean. Recharging is like stretching.
I like to think of it as I do about running. In order for me to become a better runner, I need to take rest days and stretch. The body cannot handle running 6-7 miles per day, every day. Those muscles and joints need a rest.
I read this quote the other day that said to stop the productivity guilt. It hit me so hard. Why do we feel the need to list every single thing that we did that day to our friends and families?
Why do we feel satisfied if someone asks us what our plans are that day and we list ten thousand things? You can’t rest, but have a day chock-full of stuff to do. It doesn’t work that way. That does not count as rest.
I’m guilty of productivity guilt. I’m constantly writing work lists and filling my monthly photography and content calendars to the brim. My friends and I are always exchanging long lists of things we plan to do.
It becomes exhausting just thinking about it. Sometimes not having a list or plan is the best option. Just rest.
See how it feels to just sit in your home and relax. Sit outside, listen to the birds, watch the trees, sit still and be with your thoughts.
MAKE THIS DELICIOUS QUICK AND EASY CHEESY BEEF LASAGNA
The Internet, tasks, and lists will all still be there when you get back. And you will come back brighter, lighter, stronger, and refreshed. The rest gives you the ability to renew. See how that works.
All of it has a purpose and once you let go of the productivity guilt, it will come by with ease. You’ll find yourself looking forward to rest days and zero plans and being more productive on workdays.
So wherever you are in the world reading this, I ask you to give yourself one day a week completely off and see how good it feels when you go back to everything. All of it will still be there when you get back.
And when you do get back, make my easy, delicious lasagna for dinner. Prep this on a Sunday night and stash half of it in the freezer for leftovers. My lasagna is super quick to whip up and tastes really good.
LET’S GET COOKING TO EASE OUR STRESS
I picked up most of the ingredients at Trader Joe’s. What I love about Trader Joe’s, I mean besides everything, is that they carry the no-boil lasagna noodles.
Those are awesome because they save you tons of time and cook with the other ingredients in the oven. Everything comes out crispy and divine. You’ll look forward to dinner with this easy lasagna.
Tell me, what do you guys do to recharge? What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Cheers to resting, recharging, and eating all of the lasagna!
