Turmeric Carrot Ginger Soup

Sharing is caring!

I've always been a huge fan of soup, especially this time of the year when it's freezing outside and I don't want to cook complicated meals. Soup is easy and can be stored in the freezer to whip out on those nights when cooking is not an option. I use to be the girl who only whipped up chicken noodle soup, but with food blogging, I've really gotten into making various kinds of soups for all of the seasons.

My Turmeric Carrot Ginger and Coconut Soup are one of those super creamy, rich, and delicious soups that pairs well some freshly baked bread, as an appetizer, or can even be eaten as a cold soup. It's thick, creamy, and super filling! The best part is it has chicken bone broth in it for a plethora of health benefits that I'll get into more detail throughout this post.

I've partnered with a company called Osso Good Bone Broth and feature their delicious chicken bone broth in this recipe. I think you guys are really going to enjoy making this soup as it uses minimal ingredients and takes no time at all. This recipe can also be totally dairy-free if you swap out the butter for Ghee!

I get asked almost every day what the benefits are from consuming Bone Broth is, but before we discuss the benefits, let's look at some history.

Bone broth is an ancient remedy that has been used for many centuries and has actually been a thing long before it ever became trendy on Instagram. According to a website called Why Bone Broth, humans have been consuming bone broth since they figured out how to boil water. Animal parts combined with hot water were used and thus, bone broth was born. During the height of the Roman Empire, The Apicius is one of the first ever "recipe books" that the Romans used and inside the Apicius were recipes using animal parts, water, and spices, i.e.-bone broth. Bone broth is also popular in Traditional Chinese Medicine which historians believe begins around Second Century BC. No one knows the exact date of when bone broth started, but what we do know is that humans have been consuming it for centuries due to its many health benefits.

The benefits of bone broth:

Bone broth has been known to improve gut health. Did you know that 95% of our serotonin production lies within our gut? That means that if we aren't taking care of our guts the proper way we could be more anxious, have insomnia, have skin problems, stomach issues, and depression. Talk about an eye-opener huh? Speaking of eyes, taking bone broth helps with our bodies production of amino acids which also helps our vision.

Bone broth is full of amino acids like Proline, Glycine, and Glutamine, all which are beneficial to our bodies. These amino acids help boost our immune system, help with muscle recovery after intense exercise, as well as help improve detoxification and help with our energy levels. Bone broth also helps with healthy cartilage, tendons, and ligaments as well as accelerated healing. Bone broth is also loaded with minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Taking magnesium on a regular basis can improve your mood and help you sleep better, and potassium is an electrolyte that our bodies need to stay properly hydrated.

Because bone broth has glycine in it, it can help with our mood as well as with our sleep patterns. Two things I'm constantly working on, especially with my anxiety. Drink a cup of bone broth (or my Turmeric Carrot Ginger and Coconut Soup) before bed and you may sleep better and wake up in a calmer mood.

Bone broth helps with our collagen production, which can help grow our hair and nails, as well as improve our skin. You guys know how obsessed I am with Collagen and the amazing benefits I have experienced from it, so drinking bone broth each day is a must-do for me. Check out this awesome recipe video I made!

There are many benefits to consuming bone broth and I now understand why humans have been ingesting this nectar for centuries.

I hope you guys enjoy this recipe and that you too start reaping the benefits from drinking bone broth.
