MINIMAL INGREDIENTS AND MINIMAL TIME
Let’s start with the ingredients list first. You will need one packet of Fleischmann’s Yeast®, flour, Mazola® Corn Oil, sugar, salt, warm water, and cornmeal. We will talk about the pizza toppings later in this tutorial. You will also need a large mixing bowl, a spatula, and a thermometer to check the temperature of the water. Make sure to use new yeast and not yeast that is expired. Always check the date on your yeast packet.
FOLLOW THE PROCESS STEP BY STEP
The first step is to preheat the oven to 500-degrees Fahrenheit. Then, in a large mixing bowl combine part of the flour, sugar, undissolved yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in the warm water and oil into the flour mixture. The water should be heated to 120˚F-130˚F. Always check the water temperature using a thermometer. If the water is too hot, it can kill the yeast. Water shouldn't be too cold either or the yeast will not Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Use a rolling pin to smooth out the dough. The dough should bounce back when you press into it. See the detailed photos below.
HOMEMADE CLASSIC CHICAGO DEEP DISH PIZZA
For the toppings, you will need pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and Marzano style tomato sauce. You will also need a deep-dish pizza pan or cake pan. Grease the pizza pan in with Mazola® Corn oil. Sprinkle the pan with cornmeal. Press prepared dough into the pan so that the bottom of the pan is all covered and the dough reaches 1-½ inches up the side of the pan. Sprinkle with a layer of mozzarella cheese, then add a layer of the Marzano tomato sauce. For Chicago pizza, you add the cheese first and then add the sauce. Don’t mix up these steps. Next, top with pepperoni slices, another layer of mozzarella cheese, and drizzle on more tomato sauce. Sprinkle the top with parmesan cheese. crumble sausage over cheese. Top with tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. Place the prepared pizza in the preheated oven; immediately reduce heat to 400-degrees Fahrenheit. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until the crust is golden a golden brown. Remove from oven; cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving. Make sure to let the pizza cool before slicing into it. If you slice too soon, the pizza will be soggy. Be patient and then you can slice it up and enjoy it with the family!
It’s easy to make authentic Chicago deep-dish pizza from scratch right in the comfort of your own home. Make this for family pizza night and it will for sure be a hit! Chicago pizza tastes great as leftovers the next day. Simply place the leftover in a resealable bag and reheat in the oven.

This looks delicious but I will change some toppings because I am not a fan of pepperoni or sausage but the more cheese the better! Also is there anything I can ad to crust besides corn meal not a favorite of mine?
Patl says
Sorry forgot this question - what is Marzano tomato sauce & where can I find it?
