JUMP TO RECIPE
Homemade Ranch Dressing has always been my go-to when it comes to making delicious ranch dressing that you can easily make at home. Bonus, it’s way better than the store-bought stuff. There is just something about eating homemade ranch dressing made with fresh herbs and spices that creates this awesome homegrown feeling.
Have you ever made homemade ranch dressing? It’s super easy and you can make a big batch at the beginning of the week that will last all week long. Thinking making ranch at home is complicated? It’s not at all. It’s actually super easy.
FRESH HERBS, SPICES, AND A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE
All you need is fresh dill, fresh chives, fresh parsley, some spices, sour cream, and mayonnaise. That’s it! You could also use Greek yogurt in lieu of the mayo, but if you are going to eat ranch, you may as well make it as delicious as possible.
The best part about the homemade ranch is that my version has healthy ingredients and doesn’t have any funky fillers of additives. Some of the store-bought brands have unnecessary ingredients that your body doesn’t need. It may last longer in the fridge, but it also sticks around in your system too and that’s not good.
Here’s the most cost-effective way to do this. I buy fresh herbs from the store at the beginning of the week when the prices are lowest. I also buy organic sour cream and mayo in batches because we use it a lot in various recipes. You could totally swap the sour cream for buttermilk too if that’s your jam.
You can buy fresh herbs in bulk too as most grocery chains offer a discount on bunches of herbs versus only buying one.
LET’S MAKE SOME HOMEMADE RANCH
The first step in making delicious homemade ranch is to chop up the fresh herbs. First, finely chop the chives, parsley, and, dill. Please make sure you use fresh dill for this recipe. Dried dill is not the same and the ranch will not taste as good. Trust me on this, use fresh dill!
Next, combine the sour cream and mayonnaise in a glass bowl, and mix well until they are creamy. Next, add the spices.
FRESH DILL AND SPICES MAKE ALL DIFFERENCE
We are lucky to grow and harvest dill on our farm. I literally step into my back yard and pick it fresh daily.
If you don’t have it in your back yard, fear not my friends, the grocery store almost always has fresh dill. Remember that fresh is best!
The spices you’ll need are Himalayan sea salt, black pepper, garlic, onion salt, garlic salt. If you are concerned about the salt content, no need to add the garlic salt. Add the spices after the sour cream and mayo and combine everything. Next, add fresh dill, chives, and parsley.
Seal the glass container with a lid and store in the fridge for at least thirty minutes, but overnight is even better. The longer the fresh herbs and have time to sit, the better the ranch will taste.
This easy and delicious dressing can be used for so many recipes, like pasta, chips and dip, yummy appetizers, veggies, pizza and so much more.
Make a big batch of my yummy ranch and have a delicious dip for recipes all week long!
