Ingredients

  • cup dried powdered milk
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  • Distribute all of your ingredients on the counter to make to ensure the layers are even and correct in the Mason jars.
  • Using a scooper or funnel in a 16-ounce mason jar, layer the ingredients in each jar as follows.
  • For the first layer, add the ⅓-cup nonfat-powered milk to the bottom of the mason jar.
  • For the second layer and third layer, add the ⅓- cup unsweetened hot cocoa and then ¼-cup white sugar.
  • For the fourth layer, add ¼-cup semisweet chocolate chips.
  • Finish off the top layer of the jar with a ⅛-cup layer of mini marshmallows. Seal the jar with a mason jar lid and add any type of decoration you want to the jar. I added twine and ribbon to my jars and tied a candy cane and gift tag on the handle of the jar to make it super festive!
  • To serve: Tip the hot chocolate mix from 1 jar and divide between two mugs and top up with 1 cup boiling water per mug. Mix well and enjoy!

Notes

These measurements don't have to be exact! Get creative and play around with it. These are Christmas Gifts, not math problems. :)
