Citrus Spiced Mulled Wine is the classic winter drink and my version will bring good feelings to your soul and a smile to your face. This Citrus Spiced Mulled Wine is made with fresh nutmeg, mulling spices that you can make at home, Blood oranges, and Cara-Cara oranges that offer a sweet, citrusy twist and will be perfect after a long day in the snow or an afternoon trail run. Pair my Citrus Spiced Mulled Wine with a rich beef stew or delicious pasta, and you’ll be happy all year long.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle Cabernet Red Wine
  • 4 cups Apple Cider
  • 2 cups unsweetenede cranberry juice
  • 2 cups fresh squeezed Madarin Orange Juice
  • 2 cups fresh-squeezed Blood Orange Juice
  • 2 cups Cara-Cara oranges (juiced)
  • 1 tablespoon Cara-Cara Orange Zest
  • 1 tablespoon Blood Orange Zest
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 4 Whole Cinnamon Sticks
  • 6 Whole Cloves
  • ¼ Cup Star Anise
  • 2 Oranges Peeled for garnish
  • Cinnamon Sticks and more nutmeg for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a Dutch Oven or Stock pot, combine the wine, cider, cranberry juice, Madarin orange juice, Blood orange juice, honey, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and star anise, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Simmer for 15-20-minutes over low heat.
  • Pour into mugs and garnish with orange peel, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, and more nutmeg.
