This Italian yellow tomato sauce recipe for pasta is the perfect light pasta sauce for summer and is easy breezy to make. Made with lemon tomatoes like Lemon Boy tomatoes and lemon pear tomatoes this easy tomato sauce will be the hit at all of your summer events!
Prep Step: Cut the tomatoes into quarters and slice the pear tomatoes in half. Chop the fresh basil and fresh thyme. Set aside.
In a large stockpot, add the olive oil, chopped yellow onion, garlic powder, garlic salt, black pepper, sea salt, sugar, fresh thyme and basil. Combine all ingredients with the wooden spoon and simmer on low heat.
Add the diced tomatoes to the stockpot, and simmer on medium-low heat.
Using an immersion blender, blend the tomatoes until combined. Turn the heat down to low and simmer the yellow tomato sauce for one hour until the tomatoes start to break down.
After the sauce has been simmering on low for one hour, remove from heat and let sauce thicken.
Enjoy fresh yellow tomato sauce over penne pasta and garnish with Kalamata olives, more fresh basil, and fresh parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

Want to make this for pasta? Easy! Add penne pasta to boiling water and cook until Al dente. Save some pasta water. Drain the pasta, add the reserved pasta water to the pan, add the penne pasta, and combine. Grab a pasta bowl, top with the yellow tomato sauce, and combine. Top with grated parmesan cheese, more fresh basil, and Kalamata olives for the perfect Italian pasta dish!If yellow tomato sauce isn't thickening you can add more sugar for a thicker sauce.
