🧀 Smoked Pimento Cheese Is Know As The Caviar Of The South

Southern Pimento cheese is known as the caviar of the south. Did you guys know that? If you follow me on Instagram then you know I’m obsessed with Pub Cheese from Trader Joe’s.

This recipe is better than the famous stuff you can buy at the grocery store.

A dip tray filled with fresh veggies carrots, celery, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, crackers, a spoon that says yum with a bowl of pimento cheese dip with pimentos on top
Get a platter and impress your guests with healthy veggies and this zesty cheese dip that will keep them coming back for more!

🧀 A Delicious Cheese Spread Made With Homemade Pimentos

This easy cheesy spread makes bellies happy and is great on anything like crackers and fresh veggies.

The possibilities are endless! Or the spreadabilities. Pardon my pun.

🧀 Ingredients For Spicy Pimento Cheese Dip

Ingredients for Smoked Pimento Cheese mayonnaise, pimentos, sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, smoked paprika spice blend, and cream cheese
All you need are a few ingredients for easy pimento cheese with smoked paprika

🧀 What you'll need for hot pimento cheese recipe:

    • Mayonnaise
    • Cream Cheese
    • Pimentos
    • Smoked Paprika Spice Blend
    • Sharp Cheddar Cheese

🧀 Ingredients For Homemade Smoked Paprika Spice Blend:

    • Smoked Paprika (You can find this at your local grocery store) plain paprika is fine too
    • Garlic Powder
    • Onion powder
    • Cayenne pepper
    • Himalayan sea salt
    • Black pepper

I love this spicy pimento cheese dip so much that I won’t be spending money on Pub Cheese anymore.

Cayenne Pepper And Paprika are my secrets to this delicious pimento cheese

My trick to making this pimento cheese spread stand out is to add cayenne pepper and paprika. Trust me, you’ll love it!

You don’t need to add too much cayenne pepper, just a smidge will do the trick!

If you like your cheese dip really spicy, add more cayenne.

🧀 Instructions For Smoky Pimento Cheese

    Step 1

Add the sharp cheddar cheese squares, cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, to the food processor and pulse on the low setting for 5-minutes.

    Step 2

Once the cheese turns into a spread, add the drained Pimentos, Himalayan sea salt and the black pepper and pulse on the low setting for another minute until the pimento cheese spread is smooth and creamy.

    Step 3

The pimento cheese spread should be thick and creamy.

A dip tray filled with fresh veggies carrots, celery, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, crackers, a spoon that says yum with a bowl of pimento cheese dip with pimentos on top

    Step 4

Add fresh veggies and crackers to an appetizer board and enjoy this smoky pimento cheese dip with friends and family!

You will need a food processor for this recipe. I’m obsessed with this mini one that I picked up from Home Good’s ages ago, but Amazon has a great one too for a decent price.

Homemade Pimento Cheese will keep fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Chop Up Fresh Veggies For A Delicious Appetizer Cheese Platter

A stack of crackers on a blue backdrop with vegetables and pimento cheese dip
Gather your guests and friends around this fun dish. I promise you everyone will be asking you for the recipe!

What are your plans for Memorial Day Weekend? Pimento cheese is the perfect appetizer for any holiday! Add this delicious cheese to any vegetable platter and you will be the hit of the party.

    Pro Tip!

    • I like to chop up fresh cucumbers like lemon cucumbers, Persian cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots, olives, celery, and radish. I add this simple pimento cheese to the middle and use it as a veggie dip.

This easy appetizer recipe takes no time at all and is wonderful for movie nights with the family.

A close-up of pimento cheese dip with a spoon that says enjoy and two bowls that say dip it dunk it and fresh veggies
Dip it! Dunk it! I won't judge you 🙂

My simple homemade pimento cheese recipe will be a hit at all of your upcoming spring and summer family functions!

Why is Pimento Cheese called Caviar of the South?

Did you know that it's a tradition in the south to gift a friends and neighbors a tub of homemade pimento cheese when a family member passes away? It's a luxury dip that has a strong history in the South. It's also known for it's rich creamy and decadent texture making it a popular appetizer staple.

    Let’s get cooking!

Sorry you hurt your shoulder, but glad your mom could help out this week. I actually injured my shoulder too and have a doctor appt. next week. So weird, I have no idea how I did it. Your pimento cheese looks delicious! I have never made it, but my husband likes to pick it up at the store on occasion. I will have to try your recipe. It does look like it is pretty low carb which is always a plus.
