Do you guys ever wake up a on a Saturday morning and think to yourself, mmmm waffles would be so delicious right about now? I think have that thought every single day, but especially on a Saturday when the days feel longer and mornings can be spent right at home with loved ones. The way a weekend should be. I actually can’t take credit for this recipe though as it’s actually my husband’s recipe. Shane makes amazing breakfast! I’ve always joke with him that he needs to start his own breakfast food truck and if our lucky stars work out then hopefully one day he will!

In the meantime, I’ll be sharing more of his famous recipes on here so you guys can try them because they really are that amazing. These waffles are the melt in your mouth, delicious buttery goodness that waffles should be. Crispy on the outside, but moist and delicious in the middle. They have a slight crunch to them and taste amazing with grass-fed butter and loads of pure maple syrup slathered all over them.

It’s no secret that our favorite grass-fed butter is Kerry Gold (not sponsored, are you kidding, I wish they would sponsored me!) and Trader Joe’s Canadian maple syrup. The stuff in the tall bottle that’s pricey but worth every penny. You can of course substitute using any butter you like or go dairy-free if that’s your jam. I do recommend that you get a good quality maple syrup.

I know you’ve all been waiting anxiously to find out my secret ingredient. You know you are just jumping out of your seat to find out what it is. Okay, okay, I’ll tell you! My secret ingredient is walnut oil. Walnut Oil helps make the most buttery, crisp, rich waffles you’ve ever eaten. Don’t believe me? Try this recipe out for yourself and then DM me on IG and tell me how much these waffles make your life better, because I promise you they will. Walnut oil makes all the difference in the world.

These waffles can be made any day of the week and can be prepped ahead of time to use in various meals. Do you know all of the amazing things you can do with waffles? You can make sandwiches out of them, make Egg’s Benedict waffles, you can even make spaghetti waffles. There are so many delicious things you can do with waffles made from scratch that the wafflebilities are truly endless. See what I did there? Wafflebiliites but like possibilities. Okay I’m done with the puns now.

We got a waffle make for Christmas and it’s one of the most used appliances in our kitchen. Our favorite is the Crux Double Rotating Waffle Iron by Crux brand. You can find the one I have here. It even comes with a mini measuring cup so you’ll have no problem measuring the perfect amount of batter to go into the waffle iron. It’s pricey but worth every penny. Trust me, I’ve tested nearly every single waffle iron on the market and this one has all the bels and whistles and does the job correctly the first time.

Have you guys gotten a chance to check out the anxiety section of my blog. My latest post talks all about the difference between grief and anxiety and how they can easily overlap each other and be all encompassing. One does not replace or replicate the other. It’s an interesting read and you should check it out while you are eating these delectable waffles this weekend!

If you make this recipe, please tag me in your posts on Instagram using the hashtag #fittyfoodlicious I love seeing my recipes in your kitchen! And please tell me all of the ways you enjoy waffles! See, now you have something awesome to look forward to this weekend. Waffles and reading!

    With constant love.
