ENJOY A ROMANTIC GETAWAY AT THE LITTLE RIVER INN
I remember the first time my husband and I went up to Mendocino county, aka the North Coast. I was instantly mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the ocean and the giant cliffs that surrounded the blue water. I felt a magical connection in such an inspiring place. It’s no wonder Mendocino has been a backdrop for some of the biggest movies in history such as Same Time Next Year, Overboard, and The Killing Time. Some of the biggest names in the business flock to Mendocino for vacation and many have beautiful homes along the mesmerizing coastline. We flock to Mendocino often and were very excited to be invited by The Little River Inn to enjoy a night’s stay in their humble abode.
COME SEE WHAT THE GORGEOUS NORTH COAST HAS TO OFFER!
The Little River Inn is one of the oldest and most historic hotels in Mendocino. The Little River sits atop the coastal cliffs overlooking the gorgeous waters that the North Coast has to offer. Each room has it’s own deck, fireplace, and the front suits of the hotel have stunning views of the coast that will knock your socks off!
THE FOOD, THE LIGHTS, THE FUN!
When we got to the hotel we were easily able to find parking right in the front and was greeted by the kindest front desk staff. I felt completely at home. They put us up in a room right in the front so we had views of the coast, a deck to ourselves, and were even greeted to a complimentary bottle of wine from one of the local wineries. The room also had a mini-fridge and was stocked full of coffee and welcome fudge! If you are looking for a romantic getaway with your loved one, The Little River Inn is the perfect place for it!
THE BOTANICAL GARDENS IS ONE STOP YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS
Once we were settled in we were excited to go to the Festival of Lights also treated to us by the Little River Inn. The Festival Of Lights is held every year at the Mendocino Botanical Gardens and they truly do put on a gorgeous show! They light up the entire Botanical Gardens and do various light displays throughout the gardens. It’s held right before Christmas and is the perfect event to do with family and friends visiting. Our favorite lights were the hummingbird, the cat, the Volcano, and the awesome glow in the dark light displays held in the greenhouse. The Festival Of Lights is such a fun experience and at the end of the tour, The Botanical Garden offers drinks and snacks for sale. I went into the gift shop and purchased the most beautiful whale marble cutting board for all of my recipes. If you’re ever in the Mendocino area around the holidays, I highly suggest you tour the Mendocino Botanical Gardens. They are dog-friendly too during non-event days! Just another awesome perk that Mendocino offers.
SIT DOWN TO COMFORT FOOD FOR A MEAL WITH FRIENDS
After the Festival of Lights, The Little River Inn treated us to an exquisite dinner at their in-house restaurant. Shane opted for the Fish and Chips and I got the Brussel sprouts and fried chicken. The wait staff was super accommodating and we loved the laid-back vibe of the restaurant. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas and when we looked outside, we noticed we were surrounded by beautiful flowers and greenery. I highly recommend eating at the Little River Inn if you ever visit Mendocino because the service is impeccable, and the food was divine!
After dinner, we retreated to our suite, turn on the fireplace and got cozy and watched Christmas movies until we fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. The next morning, I woke up to freshly brewed coffee and enjoyed watching the sunrise on our own private deck. In the morning three deer walked right in front of our room on the lawn and we spotted sheep grazing as well. The Little River Inn grounds are right across the street from a state park so animals feel comfortable hanging around the grounds which we love! The Little River Inn is also animal-friendly, and although we did not bring our dogs along on this trip, we would definitely stay there again because of the accommodations and because of how dog-friendly they are.
If you ever visit the Mendocino area, I highly recommend staying at The Little River Inn. Shane loved the quiet grounds and the accommodating staff, and I loved everything about the place, especially the cozy fireplace during the cold winter months. With laid-back vibes and a welcoming spirit, The Little River Inn is one stop on your Mendocino tour that you won’t want to miss!
