HOMEMADE EVERYTHING BAGELS DOGS EQUALS A FUN SUMMER
Homemade everything bagel dogs are the recipe for summer!
I’m all about the fun life these days. Stress-free summer afternoons sipping on hard seltzer or Frosé in the backyard and munching on yummy summer appetizers is my jam. Everything bagel dogs are super fun and easy to make at home. All you need is puff pastry, nitrate-free hotdogs, everything bagel dog seasoning, and dipping sauces like ketchup or a yummy chipotle mayo dip. The dipping sauces are optional of course.
MINI BAGEL DOGS ARE WONDERFUL FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
I used to think bagel dogs were intimidating to make, but they are actually super easy. Check out this easy recipe tutorial below. You will also need egg-wash. Egg wash is made by whisking one egg and a little bit of heavy cream together.
The best thing about this easy recipe is that the entire family can join in on the fun! You can host an appetizer night in your backyard and kiddos will have a blast making this delicious appetizer.
Homemade everything bagel dogs will be a hit at all of your summer BBQ’s!
I purchased nitrate-free hot dogs for this recipe because your body doesn’t need unnatural fillers and preservatives.
These are one of my favorite hot dog brands and you should be able to find them in your local grocery store.
I always have Everything Bagel Seasoning on hand, but you can easily make your own using the ingredients listed below.
EVERYTHING BAGEL SEASONING MIX IS SUPER EASY TO MAKE
Everything Bagel Seasoning Recipe:
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup poppy seeds
3 tablespoons dried onion flakes
3 tablespoons dried garlic flakes
2 tablespoons coarse sea salt
Combine all ingredients in a sealed glass jar and you’ve got your own Everything Bagel Seasoning mix right at home.
TWO VERSIONS ARE BETTER THAN ONE
I made two versions of this recipe because not everyone can eat sesame seeds. The other version is parmesan bagel dogs.
These are made the same the everything bagel dogs are made except you swap out the everything mix for shredded parmesan cheese.
This gives everyone two options and will be a hit at all of your summer gatherings.
I love finding ways to recreate popular recipes at home that you can buy in the store. My entire family loved this yummy summer appetizer and it makes for wonderful leftovers the next day.
PROPER STORAGE IS KEY TO KEEPING HOMEMADE BAGEL DOGS FRESH
How to store leftover homemade bagel dogs:
Anything made with puff pastry should actually be store on the counter in a sealed container, since puff pastry soils faster in the fridge once cooked. However, since we are using hotdogs in this recipe, this appetizer needs to be stored in the fridge.
I find the best way to do this is to store the homemade everything bagel dogs in a sealed, glass container in the coldest part of the fridge. Homemade bagel dogs have a max fridge shelf-life of two days, so be sure and eat these up quickly. Not that you’ll need too though, as they will go fast!
What are you looking forward to this summer? Can you believe we officially half-way the season? It seems like each season approaches faster and faster these days.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you enjoy making homemade everything bagel dogs and enjoy dining out alfresco with your friends and family! Good things are ahead, I can feel it.
