Why you'll love this recipe
The pizza crust is homemade, but takes less than 15-minutes to make and free from chemicals and weird ingredients. The Halloween characters are made using Mozzarella cheese and Halloween cookie cutters. Oh, did I mention this pizza recipe is easy. It's super easy and fun to make!
👻 Ingredients for Ghost Pizzas for Halloween

Spooky Flatbread Pizza Easy Halloween Idea
- Make your own Pizza Crust: It's really easy, trust and believe! All-Purpose flour that's unbleached is perfect for this recipe.
- Baking Powder: This will help the pizza dough rise without needing Yeast.
- Sea-salt: I like to use a chunky sea-salt like sea salt flakes for this recipe. I add them in the pizza crust mix and on top of the pizza.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: This is to coat the pizza crust and for the pizza crust base. Olive oil makes all the difference.
- Shredded Cheese: Use any shredded cheese you want, this is for the pizza topping.
- Mozzarella Cheese Block: Make you sure get a block of Mozzarella Cheese and slice it to make the Halloween toppings using the Halloween cookie cutters. Don't get the pre-cut Mozzarella cheese, they are too small. You need the round block of it.
- Fresh Tomatoes: Use any toppings you want, I wanted the Mozzarella ghosts to be star of the show so I opted for fresh tomato slices from my garden. You can do pepperoni, sausage, ham, whatever you prefer.
- Black Olives: Get the sliced black olives to make the ghost face and to decorate the witch hats and bats. You can also use Capers for this too.
👻 Equipment for Ghostly Cheese Pizza
- Halloween Cookie Cutters: You need these adorable Halloween Cookie Cutters to make the Mozzarella ghosts, witch hats, and bats. You can make any Halloween shape you want using these.
- Baking sheet or Pizza Stone: I highly recommend a pizza stone kit as it comes with everything you for making perfect pizza crust and it ensure the pizza crust doesn't come out soggy. A baking sheet works just fine too!
- Basting Brush: These are essential when it comes to making homemade pizza so that you can brush on the olive oil and the sauce on the pizza seamlessly.
- Large Mixing Bowl: This is for making your delicious, homemade pizza dough. 🙂
👻 How to Make Halloween Pizza Fun and Creative Ideas

- Step 1: Preheat your oven 425-degrees Fahrenheit. For the pizza dough in a large mixing bowl mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, baking powder, and sea salt.

- Step 2: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and pour in water and olive oil and stir well until it forms a sticky dough, but you don't want the dough to be watery. (see next photo.)

- Step 3: Remove the dough from the mixing bowl and place on a floured surface and knead the dough lightly. Don't over knead the dough! You want the dough to be smooth, not sticky. Knead the dough on a floured surface for one to two minutes until dough is no longer sticky or watery.

- Step 4: On a floured surface, roll out the dough and shape the pizza crust into the shape you prefer. Form the crust on the sides and when the pizza dough is the shape you prefer, lightly brush the pizza crust with Olive oil and top with flakey sea-salt. Place prepared pizza dough on a pizza stone or a baking sheet.

- Step 5: To make the Mozzarella ghosts and Halloween cheese shapes, slice the mozzarella into even mozzarella slices and place a cookie cuter shape into each slice. For the ghost shapes, use the ghost cookie cutter, and so on. Cut the black olives in half and use these for the eyes and ghost face. You can use the black olive to decorate the bats, jack-o-lantern, and witch hats too.

- Step 6: Let's make our pizza! Spread the marinara or pizza sauce of choice lightly on your prepare pizza crust. Top with shredded cheese and tomato slices. Add your Halloween mozzarella shapes where you want on your pizza. Decorate your pizza to your hearts content with your favorite toppings, but make sure the halloween shapes, ghosts, bats, witch hat, and jack-o-lantern are the stars of the show. This is a Halloween pizza after-all!

Step 7: Now your spooky pizza is ready for the oven! Bake on a pizza stone or baking sheet at 425-degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until your pizza crust comes out golden, bubbly, and crispy. Let cook for one to two minutes, then slice and enjoy!

Cooking Tips for Spooky Halloween Pizza Recipe
- For more rise in your pizza dough, let it sit for five minutes under a towel in the mixing bowl before you knead it.
- Add fresh garlic, oregano, and thyme to the flour for even flavor.
- Like your pizza dough chewy? Let it rest 5-10 minutes before rolling.
- Add all your favorite toppings like pepperoni, sausage, onion, bell peppers, the works! This makes the best spooky pizzas, ghost pizza!

How to store Spooky Pizza?
- Let's be honest, this pizza isn't going to last through Halloween night because yes, it's that good! But if does, wrap the leftover pizza slices in parchment paper and place them in a ziplock baggy and eat cold the next day or reheat on the warming setting on your oven, but keep it no longer then a 1-2 days. Pizza is meant to be devoured immediately! It's a rule, look it up. 😉
