Did you know?
Did you know that Green Bean Casserole hails from the 1950's? This beloved dish has been a Thanksgiving tradition since it was created in 1955 by Dorcas Reilly, a chef from the Campbell's Test Kitchen. Campbell's printed the recipe right on the label of their soup cans and the rest is history! Now it's one of their most popular and recreated recipes to date!

What you'll need for this Thanksgiving Classic Campbell's Recipe Green Bean Casserole
- Fresh Green Beans: Trimmed and cut green beans. Refrain from using canned or frozen green beans as doing so will make the green bean casserole turn out mushy. Remember, fresh is best!
- Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup of course: 2-cans will do the trick. Sometimes I also swap in Campbell's cream of mushroom and chicken soup which really amps up the flavor.
- Half-n-half: Makes this dish rich and creamy. Whole milk or heavy creams works in a pinch too!
- Soy Sauce: There's a reason your Grandmother always had Soy Sauce in her pantry. I use it in nearly everything savory and it's really good on rice too! Soy sauce brings extra flavor to this dish and gives it a bit of a kick.
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper: Don't go cheap on me here folks. Fresh ground pepper that you grind yourself makes all the difference. It would not be the classic Green Bean Casserole without fresh black pepper.
- Sea Salt: A little goes a long way as we are also using Soy Sauce which is salty too.
- Onion Powder: More flavor, more better, that's my motto!
- Garlic Powder: Completely optional, but I find it's delicious in homemade Green Bean Casserole.
- French Fried Onions Topping: Trust me, it's a must! It makes this dish crispy and delicious!

How to make easy green bean casserole recipe
Prep Steps: Preheat oven to 350-degrees and spray a casserole dish with coconut oil spray.

Step 1
First: steam the green beans in a double broiler filled with water. Don't over steam them! Over-cooking the green beans will keep them from being crispy and we want them crispy. Steam them for 3-minutes then transfer to a sprayed casserole dish.

Step 2
Next, add them to a sprayed casserole dish.

Step 3
Next, add the half-n-half and cream of mushroom soup to the green beans and mix well until combined. Make sure the green beans are coated evenly.

Step 4
Now add the freshly ground black pepper, sea salt, garlic powder and onion powder to the bean mixture, and mix well until the spices are combined.

Step 5
Mix ½ the crispy fried onions into the green bean casserole mixture and add some more remaining onions to the top of the green bean casserole as well during the last five minutes of baking. Cover the green bean casserole in tinfoil and bake in the oven at 350-degrees for thirty minutes or until the crispy onions are a nice golden brown.
