Mizithra Browned Butter pasta is one of my favorite pasta dishes. Every time I go to the Old Spaghetti Factory, I always get this dish because it’s so yummy. People think that Miziithra is hard to use in pasta but it’s actually super simple. All you do is melt the cheese onto the pasta when it’s finished cooking. It’s truly that easy.
WHERE DOES MIZITHRA CHEESE ORIGINATE FROM?
Mizithra Cheese originates from the Greek Island of Crete. Mizithra (Mi-zee-thra) is a traditional Greek whey cheese that has been enjoyed in Greece for thousands of years.
Mizithra is manufactured from milk and whey derived from sheep, goats, cows, or mixtures of milks in the regions of Macedonia, Thrace, Thessalia, Sterea Hellas, Peloponissos, Ionian islands, Aegean island, and Crete island according to Mizithracheese.com.
Mizithra cheese is so easy to cook with and can be topped on anything, but it’s delicious on buttery pasta.
THREE SIMPLE INGREDIENTS TO A DELIGHTFUL MEAL
All you need for this easy pasta recipe is linguini or spaghetti, a 3/4-pound of Mizithra cheese, and 1-cup of melted browned butter. The pasta cooks first and then you add the melted browned butter and the cheese. It’s truly that simple!

MIZITHRA BROWNED BUTTER PASTA
- 1 lb linguini
- 1 c melted butter
- ¾ lbs Mizithra Cheese
- Cook the linguine according to package directions until Al Dente
- Melt the butter until it is slightly browned
- Pour the melted butter over the cooked pasta
- Pour the shredded Mizithra Cheese over the pasta
- Toss everything until the cheese and butter is combined into the pasta.
