How To Make Homemade Pie Crust?

What you will need for homemade pie crust:

    • ½ cup vegetable shortening
    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup cold water

    Instructions for homeade pie crust:

Step 1: Mix shortening, flour, and salt together with a fork or a pastry blender until very crumbly. Add as much water as needed to hold together, and mix lightly with a fork.

Step 2: Roll gently on a floured pastry cloth to about an inch larger than pie plate. Fold carefully in half, lift to pie plate, and unfold. Press into pan. For a single-crust pie, trim with a small knife to about ½ inch beyond rim. Fold up, and pinch so edge of pie is raised from rim.

🥧 Top Tip For Pumpkin Pie Recipe Maple Syrup

Pumpkin pie is a custard pie. It should be nice and moist. Do not over bake your pie, it will ruin it. If you are unsure if the pumpkin pie with maple syrup is done, stick a toothpick in the center of the pie. If it comes out clear, your pie is done. Let the pie cool for an hour before slicing. If you slice too soon, the pie slices will fall apart. Trust me, patience is key. ☺️

How do you keep the bottom of a pumpkin pie from getting soggy?

Spray the pie plate with coconut oil before you place the pie crust into pie pan. You can also brush the pie crust with eggwash before adding in the pie filling. This creates a barrier between the pie crust and the pie filling, thus keeping it from getting soggy.

How long does pumpkin pie keep in the fridge?

You can freeze pumpkin pie to make it last longer, but kept in the refridgerator, a pumpkin pie should last 3-4 days.
